Issue 1 of Superman Unchained. I loved that book. And I feel like Scott Snyder really had a nice handle on what makes Superman the classic hero he is. Plus, Jim Lee's artwork is as always, fantastic.

Hi, L,
you ask the impossible, just one best out of the fifty books I've read this year. gah.
It came as a complete surprise to me that I really enjoyed this mainstream fiction novel as I usually read fantasy/sci-fi and not much outside those genres.
The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon is nothing short of brilliant.
and because I'm a rule breaker, i'm gonna give you a second fav:
The Greyfriar by Clay and Susan Griffith
I strongly avoided reading this book because it had vampires in it but the futuristic, steampunk, dystorpian mashup is so well done I think everyone should read it. And James Marsters (aka Spike) narrates the audios. *sigh*
You know me as @JL_Henry
I feel like my list of options is smaller than it should be. Right now it is the current run of Astro City that has me taking notice. There is just something about normal people being the focus in a super-hero world that is catching my attention. Plus the stories are all clever and engaging.
@Metastufff
My favorite thing I read was
Coldstream Studio's One Eyed Pussy 2,
GrayHaven's Seven Sins,
&
GrayHaven's The Dark 2

So far the best thing I've rea this year was Chimes At Midnight by Seanan McGuire
The best book I read this year was Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore
by Robin Sloan. It totally re-energized my desire to actually finish my own book,
and was damned entertaining at the same time.

The best thing I read this year was Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. Totally outside of the sort of thing I'd usually choose to read, but incredibly inventive and fun.
My Twitter is @franticplanet, but I'm British, so I understand if I'm excluded for reasons of prohibitive postage.
Locke and Key. Hands down winner as of yesterday.
@StephenWilds
Saga or Jupiter's Legacy.
Jeez, I'm so far behind on everything, got the first Saga trade as a gift and loved it. Those Sif issues of JIM were a blast. And the best book I read was Marvel Comics: The Untold Story.
@kpeterson1980
I'd have to say the best piece of writing I read this year was Mark Schatzker's "Steak," which is about beef. It is a truly exemplary work of journalism.
@proscriptus
Oooo, tough choice! I would have to say either the last four volumes of Bakuman or the multiple Snarked TPBs were my favorites reads of 2013.
Joe Hill's Nas4a2. I'm @dave_blogger on twitter
